How To Manage Start Up Programs

By Downloadstack Editor:

Run Selective Startup using System Configuration

System Configuration is an advanced tool that can help identify problems that might prevent Windows from starting correctly or starting slowly. If you identify a program that is causing problems, you can check for updates or uninstall the program or turn off the program.

Using the Selective Startup option, you can turn services and startup programs on or off individually to see if the problem occurs the next time you restart your computer. If you select a check box in System Configuration, the service or startup program will run when you restart Windows. If the check box is cleared, the service or startup program won't run when you restart the computer.

Follow this procedure to use the process of elimination to identify the problem or slow down.

1. Open System Configuration by going to Start>Search box>Type-System Configuration a list will appear in start menu with System Configuration at top Click it.? If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. Click the Startup tab, clear check boxes for the programs you don't wish to run at startup.

3. Click OK, and then click Restart.

Now your Computer should start faster than before with only startup programs that you have permitted.

Note
System Configuration is intended to find and isolate problems, but it isn't meant as a startup management program.

You should use some computer management utilities for this purpose, if you don't have one download it here at DownloadStack.com from Windows>System Utilities section.
